Neuroimmunology Research
The Neuroimmunology Research Group seeks to improve understanding of the relationship between the immune and nervous systems. This is done via the study of diseases such as multiple sclerosis and autoimmune encephalitis where the immune system attacks the brain.
The Research Group aims to better understand the underlying mechanisms of these disorders via multimodal approaches combining clinical knowledge with research tools such as multimodal magnetic resonance imaging.
Key achievements:
- Undertaking the first comprehensive study of autoimmune encephalitis in Queensland
- Findings published in international research publications in multiple sclerosis and myasthenia gravis.
