Our research

Research programs

Working closely with Mater clinicians to deliver on our bench to bedside philosophy, Mater Research has built a reputation for excellence both locally and globally in the areas of mothers’, babies’ and women’s health, cancer biology and care, neurosciences and cognitive health, innovating the delivery of healthcare and chronic disease biology and care.

A Biobank stores leftover human tissue samples not needed for diagnosis or treatment which has been removed during a medical procedure such as an operation, a biopsy, or a blood test. Researchers use tissues from biobanks to study disease and find better ways to diagnose, prevent, and treat a variety of health conditions.

Participate in research at Mater

You don’t have to be a scientist to make a difference. You can help Mater Research develop their research by donating blood or tissue, giving permission to Mater to review your medical records for research purposes, participating in clinical trials or volunteering as a consumer representative
