Dr Yuanhao Yang

Dr Yuanhao Yang is a Senior Research Fellow and Mater Career Track Fellow with expertise in statistical methods for multi-omics research on neuropsychiatric disorders.

Dr Yang completed his PhD at the Queensland University of Technology in 2017 and joined the Cognitive Genomics Research Group at Mater Research in 2018.

His current research focuses on integrating large-scale multi-omics data (eg. genomics, proteomics) with clinical information to provide new insights into the underlying etiology of neuropsychiatric disorders, with a particular focus on Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, depression, and autism.

Dr Yang has authored 30 peer-reviewed articles, including 11 as the first or senior author, all published in Q1 journals, with four ranking in the top 5 per cent of their respective subject areas. His work has garnered over 900 citations, with an h-index of 14.

Dr Yang has secured five competitive research grants, including four as lead CI, awarded by:

  • The George and Jean Higgs Memorial Fund
  • The Translational Research Institute (LINC)
  • Mater Foundation,
  • A co-CI MRFF grant (MS Research Stream).

His goal over the next five years is to establish an independent research group dedicated to identifying clinically relevant biomarkers for early risk assessment and therapeutic intervention. His research aims to contribute to more precise diagnoses and personalised treatment strategies for neuropsychiatric disorders.
