A/Prof Adam Ewing

Associate Professor Adam Ewing is a Research Fellow at Mater Research and leads the Translational Bioinformatics Research Group with a team of two researchers, a Postdoctoral Research Officer and a Research Assistant (Programmer).

A/Prof Ewing and his research group develop software tools and apply computer modelling backed by expertise in molecular and cellular biology to better understand the genetic complexity of mutations in evolutionary and disease-related processes.

A/Prof Ewing started out his academic career with a Bachelor degree in both Biology and Computer Science from Hiram College in Ohio (USA), followed by earning his PhD in Genomics and Computational Biology at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine in 2010. After completing his postdoctoral experience at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and The University of California Santa Cruz, he moved to Brisbane in early 2014 to join Mater Research.

A/Prof Ewing was awarded the Career Track Fellowship by Mater Research which led him to becoming part of the research group leadership at Mater. A/Prof Ewing has been successful in obtaining a Discovery Early Career Research Award Fellowship from the Australian Research Council (ARC) in 2015 and a Discovery Project Grant from the ARC in 2017.
