Requirements for researchers prior to commencing a project

Prior to the commencement of all human research projects at Mater, all researchers must:

• Obtain approval from an National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) certified Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC)
• Obtain site authorisation from Mater Research Governance via a Site-Specific Assessment application.

The HREC and Research Governance review are independent of each other. Both of these mandatory requirements must be addressed in full before a project can commence.
